Surging ahead!

Welcome to the 13th edition of the AAAI Report.

What a busy six months we have had! Additional work has been obtained through new clients brought to us by our latest, dedicated team members. This, combined with repeat business from our clients around Australia and overseas, lead to a very busy six months. We have also been actively growing our business across Australia. New team members have started in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth to keep up with demand for technical and professional engineers and managers.

Australia’s unemployment figures remain at historically low levels. This has increased pressure on our clients to find new resources for major projects and expansion plans, which has in turn placed strain on the recruitment industry. Accordingly, any available candidates that come to the market are quickly reviewed, processed and placed if their skill set is a close match. However, this is rare in today’s market. We are now finding that we are forever working the phones, contacting candidate networks and using referrals to find ideal candidates. The demand for professional engineers is the strongest I’ve seen in my many years of recruitment. I believe that this will continue for many years to come in Australia, and also across the world, due to the constant demand for engineers in infrastructure, building and mining projects. This is great news for all engineering professionals, as your worth is finally being recognised in the marketplace. As a result, salary levels for engineers have gone up across the board!

We are still seeing a strong demand for candidates for projects in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia. The resources and construction boom is the strongest in Western Australia and Queensland. The infrastructure, construction and logistics sectors have driven New South Wales markets, while the manufacturing and construction sectors have pushed Victorian markets. The demand appears to be right across the board. Whether it be a young design engineer through to a Managing Director - all are in high demand. If you are interested in knowing more about what roles are available or potentially coming up, then please contact an office in your state.

New AAAI Team Members!

Over the past 3 months we have added 4 new team members to our company around Australia. I would like to personally welcome them all onboard and we look forward to the valuable contributions that they will bring to the table. This will only further promote our recruitment services and capabilities to the marketplace. In WA, Senior Associates Vittoria Hanlin and Doug McEwan both bring extensive recruitment experience to the team across the engineering, construction and mining sectors. In Victoria, Tim Marget brings over 7 years experience to our team within the engineering, construction and building services market sectors placing both engineers and managers. In Sydney, Mike Owen has joined us as our Logistics Director, focusing on providing recruitment solutions to his many clients across the logistics and supply chain market. He will focus on placing senior executives in management sales and operational roles. Mike has operated in the logistics industry for over 20 years in various senior capacities. He has also run his own successful consulting business and is currently an active LAA committee member.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to read the AAAI Report and please feel free to recommend it to any of your colleagues.

Best regards,
Mike Hayes
