2006 - Employment trend still strong
Welcome to the 10th edition of the AAAI Report.
We are continuing to see activity in all of our market sectors from engineering, environmental, utilities right through to logistics and supply chain. This highlights the current demand in the job market and indicates that there is a strong need to recruit at all levels across Australia.
Job market strong
Western Australia is experiencing a phenomenal boom in the minerals and resources sector and companies are spending large amounts of cash to support expansion plans to keep up with the demand. Queensland is also full of opportunities fuelled by the enormous amount of money being spent by the Beattie Government on infrastructure and related projects to ease the congestion and traffic problems in the major cities. This is especially true in Brisbane due to the influx of people over the last 10 years who are attracted to the housing affordability and relaxed lifestyle.
NSW has also been through a very busy infrastructure period over the last 3-4 years where many roads and tunnels have been completed or are not far away from completion. The South Australian economy, though smaller in size, is also in a buoyant state due to the expansion of the large ASC group who are building new AWD warship destroyers and have grand expansion plans for new facilities. There is, however, still plenty of work projected for the future including port and maritime work, utilities upgrades, defence projects and general building and construction work. The Northern Territory and Tasmania also have enough projects to keep the local workforce busy and there are further projects in store to sustain growth and support new developments and expansion plans.
For further information about new work opportunities in your state, please contact one of our consultants who will be more than happy to receive your call and explore potential openings for you.
Interested in finding out what is on offer?
As most of you know, the AAAI Group is in the business of placing professional engineers and senior managers into positions around Australia and overseas for our clients. Some of our work is advertised in the press or on the Internet but a majority of the senior roles we undertake are not advertised and are conducted through Executive Search activities.
Executive Search is where we headhunt selected individuals in the market place for higher level positions. We often uncover people who are happy in their current working environment but would definately contemplate a move if they were offered double their current salary! Yet many times it is not just the money which motivates people to search for a new job. Flexible hours, the culture of the company, sharing common interests with co-workers, a fun and enjoyable working environment and exciting projects are also considerations for many of our candidates. With our extensive client base and intimate knowledge of the professional and technical marketplace, there may well be an ideal role right now for you to consider.
So if you are interested, feel free to give us a call or browse through our latest positions on our website. Once again, thank you again for taking the time to read the AAAI Report and please recommend this report to any friends and colleagues.
Best regards,
Mike Hayes
