Where are all the candidates?

Welcome to the 15th edition of the AAAI Report.

Where are all the candidates? I have lost count of the number of times have I heard this catch cry from our clients this year. However, it reinforces the fact that there is a supply and demand crisis in our current labour market. The current marketplace has been greatly depleted of available engineers, and this will not let up anytime soon. Most of the Australian companies we have been dealing with recognise this as a major issue. This is particularly evident for opportunities in positions such as professional engineers, specialists and senior managers, both in Australia and overseas.

When a client comes to AAAI asking for assistance in their journey to grow and deliver projects, we rely heavily on our candidate network and referrals. This allows us to quickly tap into the market and ascertain key individuals who might be interested in exploring the opportunity further. Otherwise, our network may be able to refer us to a colleague who may shortly become available. This is forming a trend in our recruitment process and has quickly become a key part of our success in identifying suitable candidates. In addition, the use of internet and press advertising serves as an important part of our recruitment strategy. This greatly assists us in canvassing and sourcing additional active and passive candidates.

For all candidates interested in exploring or hearing more about new job opportunities in their own State or are interested in what is potentially becoming available, please either view our current job openings, or call a Director in your state.

SEEK SARA Awards

A big thank you to all of our candidates who have supported and voted for our group in the 2007 SEEK SARA Awards over the last 3 months. Thanks to your support, we are finalists in the Small to Medium Specialist Recruiter category. Hopefully we can win for the 3rd consecutive year in a row. However, we are up against some tough competition, so we will have to wait until the awards ceremony night to know of our success. The awards ceremony is being held on the 17th of October. We appreciate all of the time and effort you have spent voting and supporting the AAAI Group.

In addition, we are also finalists in the Small Business Champion Awards. The winner will be announced in early October at an awards ceremony dinner. This is the first time we have entered into such a competition and we are proud to be recognised as a finalist. We must also thank all those involved in getting the material and documentation together. It was a huge effort over many weeks to get all the relevant information compiled and ready.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to read our AAAI Report. Please recommend the AAAI Report to friends and colleagues you think may be interested in receiving it (via email) in the future to be kept up to date with latest employment news, jobs and trends.

Best regards,
Mike Hayes
