The good news is that since August we have started to see some relief in a number of market sectors that are experiencing a rebound in hiring. Recent State and Federal Government infrastructure funding and Building Revolution rollout is starting to filter through the wider community, with some major projects that have been on the horizon for many months recently awarded (Gorgon & Pluto for example) which is great news for the Australian economy. Although the market is still generally conservative - with expected growth to be slow, controlled and disciplined - there is a positive feel in the air which was missing for most of this year. Our sharp focus and specialisation has reinforced our services and capabilities with our clients and candidates, particularly across a number of our market sectors that are starting to show signs of increased activity. These include water, power, energy, oil and gas, construction, mining and infrastructure (road, rail and tunnel). The demand for new staff in 2010 with specialised skills in these market sectors will be increasing back to where they were prior to the GFC. As we enter the New Year, we will start to see many more of these specialised positions becoming available to our clients. This will be our best opportunity to assist you in considering a new career move, or looking at new opportunities in line with your career objectives and motivations. A new career move is all about the timing. Being patient, confident in what you want, and using our skills in aligning your own objectives with new positions and opportunities, will increase your chances of success in achieving your own career goals. I would also like to extend a warm and sincere Merry Christmas and a Happy and Safe New Year to you all. We look forward to seeing you all in 2010.
