Booming times ahead despite rising interest rates!

Welcome to the 17th AAAI Report.

Without doubt you have been following the news with particular regard to rising interest rates and the impact that these will have on inflation levels and the economy as a whole. The news, however, is not all doom and gloom. The job market remains very buoyant, as we continue to see more positions than candidates while our economy holds strong. This is evident across the majority of industries, especially in the civil infrastructure, utilities, mining and resources, engineering, building and construction and environmental sectors. Since the beginning of this year, we have seen a strong demand for employment as our clients gear up to attract the best talent and implement new strategies to entice fresh recruits. It appears that today's candidates remain in the driving seat when it comes to choices of new work opportunities.

Are you getting what you want in your next move?

Have you really asked yourself what you might be looking for in your new job? Have you written down what the most important things are that you currently enjoy in your position? These may be the challenges, the career openings and progression as well as the opportunities to learn more or the chance to move upward in the organisation. The softer aspects of a move will be the people, projects, culture, financial gain, management style and the flexibility of the organisation's working hours. Today, we appear to be busier than ever before, whether it is at home or at work. As a result, the ability to be able to conduct business at either place tends to be more significant factor than other aspects, such as the location of the company. Many deals have been lost due to the inflexible nature of an employee's contract. In particular, this occurs where the employer is not prepared to work with the changing times, in terms of fitting in around employee's lifestyles and interests. It is not all about the money, but rather the people, type of management and the flexibility with work that are becoming the most important parts of the decision making process today.

If you are considering a move and would like to know more about what is on offer or potentially how we can assist you with your next career move, then please contact a AAAI director in your state.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to read our AAAI Report. Please recommend the AAAI Report to friends and colleagues who may be interested in being kept up to date with latest employment news, jobs and trends.

Best regards,
Mike Hayes
